DISTANCE EDUCATION DATABASE - FREE
(HAPPY NEW YEAR!)

The International Centre for Distance Learning at the UK Open
University is making its database open for free access at the
beginning of 1994 for an indefinite period, while the validity and
size of subscription cost is re-evaluated.  The database currently
contains information about 27,000 distance taught courses in the
Commonwealth, a directory of nearly 750 distance teaching institutions
and details of over 5,500 items of literature about distance
education.

It will help our negotiations with fund providers if we can have your
feedback during this time.  We would like to know where our users are,
what they think of the database and what kind of information they use
it for.  If you value the database, please tell us.

You can reach the database by Telnet from anywhere in the World.
Telnet to    acsvax.open.ac.uk
At the welcome message please login to the Open University VAX cluster
with the Username:   icdl

We would then like you to access the database using your country name
as Account code.  Please enter this without any spaces.  The Password
is then just  AAA

(Existing Account Codes and Passwords also remain valid into 1994).

You need to be using a VT100 terminal.
