WHAT: The Games Internet Hunt is an 11-question quiz designed by the
Internet Hunt Team. The Internet Hunt is a famous game founded by Rick
Gates, a former systems librarian, and now designed and managed by a team of
volunteers who organize their efforts on a discussion list. This particular
Hunt was designed by the following fine members of the Hunt Team:

Neil Enns, Hope Tillman, Walt Howe, Alan Shapiro,
Dr. Gerald R. Viers, Tony Safina, and Karen Schneider.

WHEN: Questions will be released Saturday, April 1, 1995 at 9 a.m. CST.
Answers are due no later than Midnight (CST), Saturday, April 8, 1995.
The questions will be released to a variety of mailing lists and newsgroups,
and posted to the Internet Hunt Web site, http://www.hunt.org/

HOW: People can participate individually or as teams. You may want to look
at past Hunts to see how answers are submitted. Past hunts can be found at:

        World Wide Web: http://www.hunt.org/
        Gopher: gopher://gopher.cic.net:2000/11/hunt
        FTP: ftp://ftp.cic.net/pub/hunt

Submit all answers by email to Neil Enns at ennsnr at www.hunt.org. Please
place HUNT ANSWERS in your subject line.

PRIZES: The Games Publishing Group has graciously agreed to donate a one year
subscription to Games Magazine to the winner of the Games Internet Hunt.

RULES:

1. You may work individually or in teams.
2. Do NOT post answers or wokr-in progress to any discussion lists or
   newsgroups.
3. Submit answers as a single document; do not email individual answers to
   questions.
4. Consulting print resources (such as books) to get started is allowed.
5. Do NOT broadcast questions to electronic discussion lists (listservs or
Usenet) in an effort to locate someone who knows the answer.
6. Answers that do not show the path to an answer will be disqualified.
7. You do NOT have to answer all questions to submit a Hunt; there have
been numerous Hunts where even the winner was unable to answer all
   questions.
8. While it is not required, it is helpful to submit the location of a resource
in URL format (as in http://www.hunt.org/ or gopher://nysernet.org/).

MINIMUM CONFIGURATION: This Hunt assumes that you have access to the World
Wide Web, either through a text-based tool such as lynx, or through telnet,
which allows you to telnet to a public WWW client. You most specifically
do NOT need access to a graphical interface, a fast modem, or a high-end
computer... though several hours of spare time will be essential. ;) If
you do not know if you have access to either telnet or the World Wide Web,
ask your system administrator--you may be surprised at what tools are
actually available to you; sys admins often assume people are aware of
things that aren't all that obvious to the rest of us.

TELNETTING TO A PUBLIC LYNX CLIENT. Have access to telnet, but not to lynx
or any other tool for accessing the World Wide Web? Here's how to connect:

Telnet to ora.com
login: gnnguest Press return at the password prompt

Only use this address if you are ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY sure that you have NO
OTHER way of accessing the Web.

Above all, have fun!

Neil
