EUROTEL
TO THE AID OF KOSOVO REFUGEES
EuroTel Praha has organised a collection among its
employees to assist refugees resulting from the war in Kosovo.
EuroTel employees have demonstrated their humanitarian concern to the fate of
the Kosovo refuges. EuroTel employees have donated a total of 210,483 CZK, with EuroTel
contributing an additional 420,696 CZK. With this total sum of 631,449 CZK, EuroTel, in
cooperation with the People In Need foundation, which is under the aegis of Czech
Television, sent a truck with humanitarian aid directly to Macedonia.
The more than one-half million crowns were used to purchase goods that are most
needed by the refugees in the temporary camps. The humanitarian convoy departed from
EuroTel's headquarters on Wednesday, 2 June. The trip will take fourteen days, and the
material assistance will be distributed directly to the Kosovo refugees.
"EuroTel provides services that are not limited only to the Czech Republic,
and so its charitable activities cannot be limited by the borders of a single country.
Traditionally, EuroTel has endeavoured to extend assistance to those who need help the
most, be they from institutions for infants, citizens afflicted by floods, or, in this
case, inhabitants of areas stricken by war. I would also like to thank all of our
employees, among whom this initiative evoked such a great response, who did not hesitate
to contribute frequently substantial sums," stated Ed Kingman, managing director
and CEO of EuroTel.
EuroTel Praha Ltd is a joint venture of SPT TELECOM
Inc. (51%) and Atlantic West B.V. (49%). Atlantic West B.V. is equally owned by Bell
Atlantic (NYSE:BEL) and MediaOne International, which is a part of the MediaOne Group
