Both companies at the same time introduced the CNN Mobile - the first news - information service for mobile telephones with global extent and content.

Thanks to this extensive, flexible and broadly-conceived news service, the existing offer of information which is provided by the complex of information services accessible through the GSM InfoText is now substantially extended and supplemented.

It is now possible for all users of mobile telephones in the GSM network, no matter where they are and when they call, to have immediate access, through the SMS service, to the news of the CNN company in their original, English, version.

The enormous amount of most varied information which is offered by the CNN Mobile service, is gathered and updated by more than 3,500 professional reporters from all over the world 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

How to avail yourself of the CNN services?

The CNN Mobile service has been placed among other GSM InfoText information services in the English language, i.e. among the services which you will find under the access number 999112 (without any prefix). The key word for the CNN Mobile service is of course CNN, which is followed by obligatory and optional parameters divided with spaces, by which you specify the scope of information you wish to receive on your mobile GSM telephone.

If you wish to receive Information of the CNN Interactive news agency, you may use either of the following methods:
• You will register your mobile telephone for the selected type of reporting, for example: Regional News - Europe - News, and then, depending on the frequency of updating in the selected area, you will receive automatically the most up-to-date news directly on the display of your telephone. This method is very easy and efficient!
• If, however, you wish to obtain only a particular piece of information from the selected type of reporting, you will dispatch a question, specifying the field, for example Economic News (Business) - USA - Commodity Values, and in no time you will receive from the GSM InfoText an answer containing the desired information. This method operates on the principle: question - answer and does not serve for supplying the holder of a mobile telephone continuously with recent news in the given field of reporting. It is designed for less frequent inquiries about specific, in some cases very specific, fields of interest, e.g. Sports News - NBA or NHL, or, as the case may be, Travel Guide - Hong Kong.

Note: The first-mentioned method of obtaining the CNN news (through registration) will be made accessible from July 1999 onwards. The other method of obtaining news (i.e. question - answer) is already available at present.
