For all of you who are planning to go overseas, we have good news. Even in the United States of America you can phone using your EuroTel SIM card. All you need is a special telephone set which you can either buy or lease. Why do you need a new set? GSM networks in the United Stated use a higher frequency band than in the countries of Europe (frequency band 1900 MHz) for radio signal transmission. Hence, their name PCS 1900. That's why you need a telephone which is made for transmitting and receiving in those networks. Because you can use your EuroTel GSM Global SIM card in those telephone sets, the price for mobile phoning in the USA will be part of your monthly billing from EuroTel Praha. Of course, you can be called at your normal mobile phone number. How do you get a PCS telephone set? If you travel to the United States more often, it will pay off to buy a set. Currently, you can buy one in New York from Omnipoint or any other company operating a PCS network. In the very foreseeable future, EuroTel Praha will be offering these sets, too. To start with, there will be two models of mobile telephones available - NOKIA 2190 and ERICSSON CF337. If you think buying a set is unnecessary, then you can lease one. You can lease these telephones from the British company, CellHire. All you have to do is order the delivery of the telephone to your address in the United States (office, hotel) through the EuroTel Praha Customer Service Department. The staff of our Customer Service Department will help you filling in the form which, in addition to other things, contains: • client information (address, phone number) • payment particulars (credit card number, type of card, date of issue, billing address) • detail about the telephone required • delivery information (delivery address, date of delivery, areas in which the telephone is going to be used, from when it is going to be used, contact in the USA, .....) The completed form will be faxed by our Customer Service Department to CellHire. This is where EuroTel's role ends. From there on it is purely a relation between the client and CellHire. CellHire will deliver the telephone to the desired address at the desired time, and you will pay directly there using your credit card. You will have to return the telephone set in the United States, if you return it in Europe, you will have to pay the costs of sending the telephone back to the USA out your own pocket. Signal coverage in USA regions In USA, there are several regional operators of mobile telephone networks. The operator with whom EuroTel Praha signed an agreement is Omnipoint Communications, Inc. With this company, you can already telephone in New York City and the surrounding areas. This is, however, only the beginning of our cooperation and will soon be able to offer you communications in other regions and outside of the USA, including Canada.
