Dear friends, dear customers, |

|
First of all, allow me to share with you some
exciting, encouraging, and (for all EuroTel Praha employees, business partners, and
co-workers) joyous information. This July, the number of EuroTel Classic and EuroTel GSM
Global mobile phone owners broke 450,000 and we are very quickly approaching another
mark--this time, the half million! And since we provide services for GSM mobile phone
owners from other countries in the framework of roaming agreements as well, the actual
number of customers using EuroTel Praha services is much higher. We predict that we will
provide services this year for approximately one million customers in the Czech Republic
and abroad!
You will, of course, have the chance to meet up with the EuroTel Praha brand and
logo in ways other than in the context of mobile phones. We believe that successful
business also includes a community approach, solidarity, and a accommodating relationship
to public matters. As a company which, in terms of operating, economic and financial
outcomes, is one of the most successful in the Czech Republic, we participate in a number
of non-commercial projects, events and activities in various fields.
Approximately a year ago, we all followed with affection and admiration the effort
with which the people in Moravia faced the consequences of the destructive July floods.
Understandably, not even EuroTel stood by but provides universal aid to those living in
the affected regions. Financially, it took part in renovating the elementary school in
Česká Ves in the Jeseniky region. We were delighted that the 1998/1999 school year will
welcome students in new, reconstructed buildings.
EuroTel became the general partner of EuroTel Dream Game in which the golden Czech
Republic Olympic team from Nagano met with a selection of stars of the National Hockey
League on August 6, 1998, in the Prague sports arena. Fans were introduced to D. Hašek,
J. Jágr, V. Růžička, T. Selanne, M. Sundin, and a number of other hockey legends from
the Czech Republic, Canada, USA, Sweden, Finland and Russia. This was our way of thanking
not only the successful representatives, but the fans as well who crossed their fingers
during the entire Olympic tournament and who put together a triumphal welcome upon the
return of the golden team players, and of commemorating those exceptional moments.
Golf is another sport which EuroTel Praha has traditionally supported. Supporters
of the green sport certainly didn’t want to miss any of the EuroTel Bohemia Tour
tournaments which were held in August and September 1998 in Karlovy Vary, Mariánské
Lázně, and in the German Bad Griesbach.
And finally, for fans interested in tennis feats from some past women players from
the Czech Republic and other popular personalities, we are putting together towards the
end of September another year of the EuroTel Women’s Open in Stromovka. Just like last
year when M. Navratilova drew lots for the tournament and H. Vondráčková, Z. Jandová
or M. Hrubešová played, this year we also anticipate the participation of some
interesting personalities, uncompromising matches, and excellent performances. In
addition, M. Navratilová will play an exhibition match. The tennis tournament itself will
be preceded by the ceremonial planting of three oak trees in the wonderful Stromovka park
in Prague.
Looking forward to seeing you at some of the sporting events we support.
