The exhibition displays all the most important technologies enabling transmission of
information and communication. The exhibition rooms contain examples of all the systems
and technologies used - the telegraph, the telephone, radio and television transmitters -
and examples of state-of-the-art telecommunications products and services such as the
Internet, mobile telephones, digital connection systems, computer networks, data file
transmission technology, integrated services digital networks (ISDN), and satellite
communication.
Children especially will welcome the opportunity to experience how the first telephone
transmission in the world was made by Alexander Graham Bell; you can also become a
cameraman in Czech Television's first television studio or try surfing the Internet.
One unique exhibit is a Nokia MD 59 mobile telephone, which was the first device of its
type in the former Czechoslovak Republic. On September 12, 1991 it was used to make the
first mobile telephone communication from the Valdtejn Palace in the presence of a
number of eminent guests. The former American ambassador, Mrs Shirley Temple-Black, had a
conversation with Mrs Rita Klimová, the Czechoslovak Federative Republic's ambassador to
the United States.
With EuroTel's support, it has been possible to put together an outstanding exhibition,
fully comparable to similar projects abroad.
You can visit the National Technical Museum in Prague every day except Monday. It stays
open until 5 p.m. Enjoy your visit.
