[The following major Internet announcement was made today by Dave Bezaire,
Director of Internet Services for CompuServe.]

Over the past year, we have received a lot of input asking for broader
Internet services such as USENET Newsgroups, FTP, Telnet, and more recently the
World Wide Web. And we have responded with our Internet Made Easy(sm) strategy.
We have released easy-to-use access to Newsgroups and FTP via the CompuServe
Information Manager. We have also given members who are on the Internet the
ability to Telnet into their CompuServe accounts.

Now we are going further to become the first service that combines the
flexibility of a direct, full Internet connection with the reach, reliability
and value of a commercial online service. Offering full Internet access at
CompuServe's new, low connect-time rates along with unlimited access to over
100 free basic services, CompuServe continues to be the leading online service
value.

Specifically, CompuServe will, within the next 30 - 60 days, release dial PPP
(Point-to-Point Protocol) Internet connection service. This will allow members
to use any Internet software (such as Mosaic) to browse the World Wide Web and
to access the full array of Internet resources. By virtue of our global
network, CompuServe becomes the first to deliver reliable, dial up Internet
access on a worldwide scale.

As the world's leading online service, we are in a unique position to help
members use the Internet. CompuServe offers services such as the Internet New
Users Forum and the Internet Resources Forum for education and advice. And you
can expect our service to be robust and reliable with over 30,000 dial-up ports
at over 400 point of presence.

CompuServe members will be able to use any TCP/IP software with dial-PPP
capabilities, either commercial packages such as Spry's Internet-in-a-Box, or
programs available online. Because this is a full TCP/IP connection, the
service can be used by any modem-equipped computer, regardless of operating
system. CompuServe's forum libraries provide many options, and our FTP service
makes it easy to obtain software directly from the Internet.

We are excited about this announcement and we hope you are too. To fulfill our
Internet Made Easy pledge, CompuServe needs your continued feedback. GO
INTERNET and choose Internet Feedback to let us know what you are looking for
from your Internet access and online service provider.

Sincerely,

Dave Bezaire
Director of Internet Services, Information Services Division
