In order to access the Internet with the aid of the EuroTel GSM Global network, it is necessary to own the following equipment:

GSM telephone with data interaface
an activated SIM card with cellular numbers for voice and data
a notebook equipped with PCMCIA slot type II or a PC with internal/external PCMCIA drive

In order to have unlimited access to the information sources of the Internet, you need the following software equipment:

software ensuring dial-up connection to the access point of the Internet (necessary only for old types of operating systems, such as DOS, Windows 3.XX; in the new operating systems, such as Windows 95, NT, this function is already implemented).

software for TCP/IP support for the operating system you are using (necessary only for old types of operating systems, such as DOS, Windows 3.XX; in the new operating systems, such as Windows 95, NT, this function of the program is already implemented).

user software which will allow you communication with the single services of the Internet (such as WWW browser, a program for administration of your e-mail box and others). The programs may only be designed for the utilisation of a certain service of the Internet, such as a separate WWW browser for a separate viewer of the News discussion groups, and so on. Complex programs are also available which enable the communication with the services of the network in the framework of one user interface. Therefore, you don’t need to launch more applications at the same time for access to the single services. (Mostly newer programs, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator and so on.)

The detailed instructions for the installation of the single parts of the communication software can be found in the manuals of the individual programs.

You can choose the access point for phone calls from a mobile telephone by simply entering the GSM telephone number in the software to ensure the dial-up connection.

This way, all the preconditions for successful access to the Internet are fulfilled. If you choose the Mobile Internet service, you do not pay any activation fees nor any monthly fees, and no additional registration is required. You only pay for the minutes you use for data communication on the Mobile Internet service.

Within the framework of the Mobile Internet service of the EuroTel GSM Global network you have the possibility to make use of a wide range of information sources from SPT TELECOM’s INTERNET OnLine service.

Besides the technical requirements and the necessary software equipment, it is also necessary to become a registered participant of SPT TELECOM’s INTERNET OnLine service.

What does the INTERNET OnLine service offer?

Access to  WWW pages
Access to News discussion groups and other services of the Internet, such as Telnet, FTP, etc.
An e-mail box with 2MB capacity for sending and receiving e-mail messages
Remote access to e-mail boxes (via another e-mail provider)
access to the INTERNET OnLine information services, such as to electronic telephone directories of business and residential lines, Czech Press Agency (ETK) news, and so on

How to register for the INTERNET OnLine service?

The key for your registration is the INTERNET OnLine CD-ROM disk!

With this disk you will obtain:

Your registration access name and password for the registration server
Registration form
Communication software for the registration process, as well as full access to Internet services, including the administration of your e-mail box in the Czech language
14-day full access to the INTERNET OnLine service, including an e-mail box (valid both for mobile access through the Mobile Internet access point of EuroTel Praha and for all access points from UNT of STP TELECOM).

Registration is carried out fully automatically after calling your communication software on the registration server of SPT TELECOM. During registration you will be able to set your access name and password to the Internet as well as your access name, password and e-mail address of your e-mail box. After full registration for the INTERNET OnLine service, you will be able to access the Internet through both the mobile access points of the Mobile Internet service and access points from UNT through all the publicly accessible points of UTN of STP TELECOM’s INTERNET OnLine service.

Utilisation of the Mobile Internet service in foreign countries

For technical reasons, it is unfortunately not possible to use the Mobile Internet service in foreign countries. However, this limitation is not valid for the data and fax transmission service which can be operated in foreign countries without problems. The conditions for the service are enclosed in a roaming contract between EuroTel Praha and the corresponding operator of the GSM network in the given country and its support for data and fax services.

Short text messages & the Internet

EuroTel Praha also offers you another very attractive service which incorporates the advantages of mobile communication on the EuroTel GSM Global network and world-wide communication on the Internet computer network. This service will enable you to send short text messages to GSM mobile telephones through an e-mail message sent through the Internet, eventually entered from the form on EuroTel Praha’s special WWW page.

How to send a short text message via e-mail

The only condition for the utilisation of this service is the ownership of an e-mail box on the Internet or the ability to send e-mail messages via the Internet. If you send an e-mail message to the EuroTel Praha e-mail address @sms.eurotel.cz, the text recorded in the subject of the message will then be sent in the form of a short text message to the GSM telephone number (last 6 digits of the telephone number of the GSM Global network) which will be stated as the addressee of the message.

NOTICE: When sending short text messages in the framework of the EuroTel GSM Global network, the maximum possible length of the messages (the subject of the e-mail message) is limited to 160 characters. If the message you enter contains more characters, the part exceeding 160 characters will not be delivered to the mobile telephone of the addressee..

How to send a short text message from the EuroTel Praha WWW page

The condition for the use of this service is Internet access or access to WWW pages located on the Internet.

With the help of the communication software you will get connected to the Internet. On your WWW browser you will select EuroTel Praha’s WWW page: www.eurotel.cz. By means of the SERVICES reference on the page, select the WWW page SMS gate. After this selection, you will see the form for sending messages to GSM mobile telephones on the EuroTel GSM Global network. Fill in the form according to the instructions and send it. The text of the message which you enter will be, just as in the above described case, sent to the GSM mobile telephone of the entered addressee.
